A Woman Candidate? A Black Candidate? Never Been Done Before Right?

Wrong!
In 1872 Victoria Woodhull ran for President with Frederick Douglass running for Vice President on the same ticket. Pretty interesting lady. Definitely worth 5 minutes to check it out.

that broad wasn't even old enough to be president.

She was 34 and nominated by the Equal Rights Party. Isn't it 32? Or is that the senate?

Actually it's 35 for the pres. I just checked. She was born in sept 38. It would have been off by months at best. She still ran regardless of that.

And it appears as though the states are allowed to decide how old their senators are from what I can find. I saw a number of 21's, a 30, and a 26.

damn straight...let's get back to state rights!

history lesson: "state's rights" = the right of states to pass Jim Crow.

I agree. states don't know their elbows from their a-holes. The should have far less rights than they do.

while i appreciate the anonymous "history lesson", i don't see what state's right issues like gay marriage, medical marijuana law reform, and education policy and assessment have to do with Jim Crow.

You sound like a brainwashed, fedearlist Democrat. Threadkiller, thank god you don't live in a state.

Threadkiller doesn't live in a state. And didn't post the "anonymous" posted above. so back the f off. And keep your brainwashed Libretarian crap to yourself. Talk about brainwashed. Move to Australia with Ricky Williams if you really wanna live autonomously. Build your own roads, schools, and put out your own fires. Oh and grow ALL your own food, pick up your own mail and take your own trash to the dump which you will run yourself as well. Liberatarian ideals are so hypocritical to the idea of having any form of community to begin with. So keep "living the dream" if you want but stop trying to convince anyone it is for the greater good or for anything other than your own greed.

Oh and stop getting your paychecks from my tax dollars! Jag off.

100YearsOfTrash said...

Wow! When did I advocate for ablolishing the government, and when did they start growing all my food? Also, I didn't realize Austrailia had done away with civil services. I'll have to look into that.

Oh and I am all for you having more control over your tax dollars. Wouldn't it be great if you could choose not to let them go to public school teachers.

I was referring not to Australia as a state and was speaking to the quazi-community he was a part of while there.

The government doles out a lot of money to aide farm owners, so in a way it does subsidize the growth of all your food. The exploitation of which was mentioned in a previous post.

Yeah I agree, it would be nice to be able to control your tax dollars and what they went to. But I wouln't prevent them from going to public school teachers.

So who, if you could, would you prevent from getting your tax dollars. And if you could where would you like to see them go? If you did in fact still have to pay a minimum fed tax.
